At Nora's
Sam walks in on Troy and Nora who are sitting on the couch talking. Nora and Troy get up off the couch.
Nora: Sam! I wasn't expecting you.
Sam: Obviously!
Troy: Come on Sam, it's not what it looks like.
Sam: No Troy, I think this is exactly what it looks like.
Nora: Sam . . . Sam, please wait! (Sam starts to leave, and she follows) Sam!
Sam: (stopping outside the door) No, I think I'll give you two some privacy.
Nora: Sam, please . . . God I was up half the night thinking about you . . . about us.
Sam: Sure, anyone can see that!
Nora: Sam, Troy . . . oh God . . . He collapsed on my doorstep last night. I didn't find him until this morning.
Sam: Going to the hospital was too logical for you?
Nora: He didn't want to go.
Sam: No, of course not. Not when he could rest up on your couch.
Nora: And I was suppose to leave him on the step?
Sam: You can do whatever you want to with Troy. You just make sure it doesn't affect Matthew.
Nora: Matthew's not here. He's at a friends for the night.
Sam: Good!
Nora: Sam . . . Why did you come here?
Sam: I thought I left something important here, but I just remembered where it is.
Nora: Oh Sam . . . !
Sam: What?
Nora: Can't we talk about this?
Sam: We? Who's we? You, me and Troy?
Troy: You know what, you two should talk. I'm going to go.
Sam: No! I'm the one who's leaving. I've got a meeting. You two have a nice day.
Nora: Sam! (She turns to give Troy a dagger. Upset, Nora goes into her office) Where are my keys? They can't have just gotten up and walked away.
Troy: (following Nora) I'm sorry.
Nora: (searching her desk) For what?
Troy: I'm sorry for what happened between you and Sam. That was my fault. I shouldn't have been here. I should've . . . I should've never come here. Oh man, you know what uh . . . maybe . . . maybe I should get going.
Nora: (turning to look at him, she hesitates a moment) Maybe you should. (walks over to the book stand and searches there)
Troy: Right . . . Well like I said, I . . . I'm sorry . . . I . . . I never, I never meant to . . .
Nora: Never meant to what? What is it you never meant to do, Troy? Wreck my relationship with Sam? Go after Lindsay the way you did even though I asked you time and time again not to? What is it exactly that you never meant to do?
Troy: Look, I told you that I was sorry.
Nora: Yes, I know. You keep saying that. (walking away)
Troy: Well maybe that's because it's true.
Nora: I don't think so. I find it hard to believe you're sorry when it looks to me like you always manage to get exactly what you want. (walking to the other side of the desk) Regardless of the consequences that it costs other people.
Troy: (leaning over the desk) Wait a minute. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! You think I got exactly what I wanted?
Nora: Yes, I do!
Troy: Really? You think that I almost wanted to die? Is that what you think? You think I wanted to get hit in the head with a crowbar by Lindsay or get bitten by a poisonous spider? Or what about the building? You think I wanted to get trapped in a burning building?
Nora: Who's responsibility was it that you were in that building to begin with?
Troy: (angrily) I DID WHAT I HAD TO DO NORA!
Nora: Oh right, for your brother?
Troy: That's right, for my brother.
Nora: Oh please! (turning away)
Troy: Fine! Fine. It was for me too. And for you. Somehow I got the crazy idea that that's what you wanted Nora. So why don't you tell me that I was wrong. . . (walking around the desk to face Nora) Why don't you look me in the eye Nora and tell me that you didn't want me to do exactly what I did.
Nora: (she looks him in the eye and hesitates) You're right! I wanted you to go after Lindsay. I wanted you to get her to confess.
Troy: No, no Nora. No, it was my idea.
Nora: No, I encouraged you.
Troy: You encouraged me? I don't know if I'd go that far.
Nora: Yeah, I did. I did. I was your partner in this. I was a silent partner. When you went after Lindsay, I knew exactly what you were doing. And I kept my mouth shut. And because I kept my mouth shut, I lost Sam. (leaning against the desk) I did that, all by myself. I lost him. . . (Troy walks over to the desk and sits next to her) Sorry I snapped at you.
Troy: (smiling) It's ok. (she returns his smile)
Nora: Maybe you should go now, ok? I mean, if you feel up to it.
Troy: Yeah.
Nora: And take yourself to a hospital please and get checked out.
Troy: (laughing) Sure doc. I'll go get myself checked out at the hospital.
Nora: Good!
Troy: (he starts to leave, then turns back to Nora) We'll, we'll talk again. (Nora looks at him, unable to say anything. Troy leaves. Nora paces around in her office trying to figure out what's going on with her when she sees Jen at the back door. She goes to open it)
