At The Funhouse

Starr: (trying to use the hammer handle to pry the metal ring loose from the wheel) It's not working.

Troy: You can't pry it loose?

Starr: No! (giving up) The hammer's way too heavy . . . Stop looking at me like that. My wrist hurts.

Troy: (noticing the spider on her arm) Don't move . . . don't move!

Starr: Why can't I move?

Troy: Because if you move, it could bite you.

Starr: What could? . . . (she looks at her arm and sees the spider crawling on it) Is that the spider that bit you?

Troy: Either that, or it's one just like it.

Starr: Cool!

Troy: No, no, no, not cool. Listen to me, ok . . . I need you to be very, very still. Don't move your arm.

Starr: Ok.

Troy: Ok . . . Good! . . . Now with the other arm, I want you to slowly bend down and grab the orange juice bottle. (she does that) Good girl! Ok.

Starr: We aren't going to smush it, are we?

Troy: No, no, no, no. Here's what I want you to do . . . I want you to take the top of the bottle and put it right underneath the spider . . . but DON'T touch it!

Starr: This is just like "When Pets Bite Back".

Troy: Ok, just be careful.

Starr: (putting the bottle near the spider) Now what do we do?

Troy: Now we pray.

Starr: She did it! Just like she was trained . . . I can get a lot of money off of you.

Troy: Good girl! Ok, now put the lid on . . . Go check . . . Hurry up before she gets out. Good job!

Starr: I always wanted a spider. You can keep Legs company.

Troy: No, no, no darling, you can't keep her.

Starr: Why not?

Troy: Because she's poisonous. Now listen to me, when you leave here you have to get rid of that spider, ok?

Starr: (pouting) I never get to keep the cool stuff.

Troy: I know, I know. Maybe next time. Now listen, you still didn't do me that favor. I still need you to do me that favor. I need you to write down that number for me.

Starr: I told you I don't have a pencil. And if my stupid mom and dad would just give me back my cell phone, then I could just call the number myself.

Troy: Why don't you try looking in your backpack one more time. Maybe there's something in there. Anything at all . . . anything you can write with.

Starr: (looking in the backpack) I'll try.

Troy: Anything?

Starr: I have a pen!

Troy: A pen . . . a pen is perfect . . . Now see if you have something to write on.

Starr: Well, I don't have anything to write on.

Troy: Look in the backpack, there might be something.

Starr: Oh, I have this. (holding up a piece of paper)

Troy: Paper! . . . Ok, here's what I want you to do. I want you to write down a name, ok? Got it? . . . Come on . . . Nora . . . Buchanan.

Starr: (writing) Nora Buchanan.

Troy: Ok . . . Nora Buchanan.

Starr: I got it.

Troy: Good! Her number is 555-0136. Now read it back to me.

Starr: (writing) 555-0136.

Troy: Good . . . Good . . . Good! Now I want you to call her and I want you to tell her that the thing that she wants is . . .

Starr: It's too many words, it won't fit!

Troy: Ok, ok . . . just tell her 'Ramali at the gallery' . . . R-A-M-A-L-I . . . She'll know what that means.

Starr: Oh! . . . (standing, she shows him the paper) Hey look, . . . I wrote it in script.

Troy: Ok, ok . . .Good girl! . . . But you got to remember to tell her 'Ramali at the gallery'. It's the only way I'm going to get out of here, ok?

Starr: I'm sorry no one believed me when I told them.

Troy: That's ok. You're going to fix it, ok? You're going to call Nora.

Starr: And she'll get the cops to come?

Troy: She's going to get the cops to do alot of things . . . Now if you see a police officer, I want you to tell him that I'm here, ok?

Starr: I don't think he'll believe me.

Troy: Well that's why you're not suppose to be lying to the police commissioner . . . But that's ok . . . You try it anyway. You never know what might happen.

Starr: I guess so.

Troy: Hey, hey, hey. I need you to take everything with you, take everything. And can you put the crate back over here?

Starr: Oh!

Troy: Ok . . . quicker. Good!

Starr: Why?

Troy: Well, because I don't want her to know you were here.

Starr: Oh, you mean that mean blonde haired woman?

Troy: Yes, that mean blonde haired woman . . . Now remember, when you get out of here, I want you to get rid of that spider right away, ok?

Starr: I wish I could keep'em. Yeah, I know, I know. I can't.

Troy: Ok. Hey, munchkin, thanks for all your help. You're a pretty cool kid.

Starr: You're pretty cool too, Mr. Man on the Wheel.

Troy: Thank you!

Starr: When you get out of here, can we still be friends?

Troy: You bet we can . . . Good friends!

Starr: (she leaves, but stops behind the mirror to look at the spider) When they see you, they'll have to believe me. (she leaves but drops the piece of paper that has the message and Nora's number on it)

Later - At The Funhouse

Lindsay comes back, stepping right on the note with Nora's number when she goes back in by Troy.

Lindsay: Honey, I'm home.

Troy: Where were you Lindsay? What did you do to Nora?

Lindsay: Well, I see that you've changed your tune since I left.

Troy: You better not have hurt her, Lindsay.

Lindsay: Relax! Nora's fine . . . She's ok . . . But of course, that can change at any moment.

Troy: Lindsay, I am warning you, you hurt her . . .

Lindsay: NO TROY, I am warning you! I am losing my patience. Now where is that tape of my confession? You tell me where it is or Nora will pay.

Troy: Fine Lindsay, fine . . . You win . . . You want that tape? I'll give you the tape.
