At The hospital

Lanie: You're the new doctor on staff?

Troy: Looks that way.

Lanie: You're staying in Llanview?

Troy: Looks that way.

Sam: You lying bastard. (approaches Troy threateningly) What are you up to? You said that you were leaving town.

Troy: No what I actually said was that I finished working on Colin's estate. Now if you jumped to the wrong conclusion, then that's not my fault.

Sam: Like hell!

Troy: And later today I'm moving into my new Llanview home.

Sam: You son of a . . .

Bo: (grabbing Sam's shoulder) Sam, Sam! Excuse me. (stepping between Troy and an irate Sam) Dr. MacIver, I'm Police Commissioner Buchanan.

Troy: (shaking Bo's hand) Commissioner Buchanan, it's nice to meet you.

Bo: You know, I'm a little bit confused about your sudden change of plans.

Troy: I see. Is your interest professional or personal?

Bo: Well, from what I've heard you were planning to return to Africa and continue your medical work there.

Troy: That is correct. I was.

Sam: Then why don't you?

Troy: Look, I've accomplished a great deal during my time in Africa. And hopefully I've done alot of good there.

Julia Michaels: Yes, I'm sure that you did.

Troy: Thank you Julia, but I think you may be the only one in Llanview that feels that way.

Sam: You got that right.

Troy: The program I set up there is now self-sustaining. And I had been planning a return to the states for quite some time now.

Lanie: Fine, but why in Llanview?

Troy: Well, it's simple really. I was stunned by my reception here in Llanview. And I was stunned to learn what my brother Colin did. How many lives he turned upside down. How he hurt people.

Bo: Oh he cut a wide path of destruction, that's for sure.

Troy: Well that's when I suddenly realized that I had to try and do something to make up for what he did, somehow. So, I am placing both my skills and money in the services of the free clinic of this hospital.

Julia: Which I think is an incredibly generous thing to do. And frankly I'm ashamed at the rest of you. He is obviously not his brother.

Larry: I got to agree with Julia here. I mean, the free clinic is now a reality thanks to the generousity of Dr. MacIver.

Sam: Nothing you do can make up for what Colin did.

Troy: Well that may be true, but I can try.

Sam: Well don't waste your time.

Troy: Look Mr. Rappaport, I've listened to your advice. I've considered it and I've come to the conclusion that I don't care what you think about anything.

Sam: That will change.

Troy: I realize my brother caused your family alot of pain and I'm very sorry for that, but I am not Colin. So I'd appreciate it if you would just back off.

Sam: You want to stay here in Llanview, I can't stop you.

Troy: That's right, you can't.

Sam: Stay away from me, stay away from my family and STAY AWAY from Nora. (Sam leaves)

Troy: Well I need to check on my new home, so if you'll all excuse me. (turns to leave)

Bo: HOLD ON just one second doctor! (Troy turns back towards Bo) I think that we should get some things straight. You're a smart man.

Troy: Well you'd be surprised sometimes.

Bo: Well I'm sure that you can understand why your decision to stay around here has some people upset.

Troy: I can't help who my brother was, Commissioner.

Bo: No, no you can't. But as long as you're nothing like Colin, then I don't think anybody has anything to worry about, especially you. . . But I will be watching.

Troy: Okay. Seems like a waste of taxpayers money, but you do that.

Bo: Okay. (turning to Larry) Larry could I speak to you for just a minute?

Larry: Sure. What's up? (Bo and Larry step out into the hallway to talk.)

Julia: (walking up to Troy) You know, you'd think that the people of this town would be throwing a parade for you for all you're doing for the free clinic, instead of treating you like some kind of criminal.

Troy: Yeah, well I do understand though. (looking past Julia to Lanie) They have been through alot.

Julia: Look, I know that I'm new here. I did not know your brother, but what he did is not your fault.

Troy: I appreciate that Julia. (stepping around Julia towards Lanie) Will you excuse me for just a minute?

Julia: You know I was actually hoping we could go over some hospital policies.

Troy: (turning back to Julia) You know I would love that, but you don't suppose it can wait for another time, do you?

Julia: I suppose.

Troy: Great. Excuse me. (walking over to Lanie) I think I owe you an apology.

Lanie: I don't know what you're talking about.

Troy: I should have let you know my decision first.

Lanie: You don't owe me any special treatment.

Troy: Actually I think I do. Look, I know it's not going to be easy working with someone who looks exactly like the man that caused you so much pain.

Lanie: I'll deal with it.

Troy: And I'm sure there'll be some confusion around here with both of us being Dr. MacIver. And you having been married to the third Dr. MacIver.

Lanie: (looking at Bo talking with Larry) I couldn't care less about that confusion.

Troy: (looking at Bo) Well even so, I promise to do all I can to help the situation. Now if you'll excuse me. (Lanie once again looks over at Bo)

Lanie: Well.

Larry: Well Dr. MacIver's announcement certainly came as a shock to everyone.

Lanie: Yeah, it's certainly going to be a little awkward around here. I mean between my history with Colin and now there are two Dr. MacIver's on staff.

Larry: People are just going to have to keep on their toes.

Lanie: Well I wish I could call myself Dr. Buchanan right now, (Bo walks up behind them) but that's not possible yet.

Bo: Melanie, honey.

Lanie: Bo! Please tell me that you didn't hear that right now.

Bo: Nah, it's okay. It's okay. Don't worry about it. I understand. There's something I want to tell you. (She smiles uncertainly.)

Will goes to Sam's house to tell the rest of his family that he is leaving Llanview. He asks Lindsay to stop by his loft and pick up a box of things he left there for her, Jen and Sam. She agrees and he gives her the key to get in and tells her to hurry before the new owner moves in. When she arrives at the loft, she starts to unlock the door, but is startled by someone behind her.

Troy: (leaning against the door frame) Well, well, well. Once again it is just the two of us.
