The Lindsay Rappaport Art Gallery

Colin is searching at the gallery for a vial and syringe that he has lost. Lindsay, who found them near the elevator shaft after RJ and Colin's confrontation, is watching Colin from behind one of the pillars. After one unsuccessful attempt at injecting Colin with the syringe, Lindsay sneaks up on him again, preparing to stab Colin in the back with the syringe.

Nora: (standing in the doorway, watching Lindsay) What the hell are you doing?

Colin and Lindsay turn around to look at Nora.

Lindsay: What are you doing here?!

Nora: Watching you go after Colin with a syringe full of god-knows-what.

Colin: You wouldn't do that, would you Lindsay?

Lindsay: Of course not. That's crazy.

Nora: I know what I saw.

Lindsay: Well, whatever you think you saw, you're wrong. (waving the needle around) I told you, I found this over there. I don't even know where it came from.

Nora has a flashback of a hand holding a syringe moving towards her.

Colin: What is it, Nora? What's wrong?

Nora: I remember.

Lindsay: What is it you remember Nora?

Nora is fixated on the syringe.

Lindsay: Is your mind playing tricks on you? The memory is a funny thing.

Nora: YES! Especially when someone robs you of it. Is that what you were planning to do to Colin? Wipe out his memories of you?

Lindsay: Don't be ridiculous! I just told you what happened. I found this on the floor over there. Colin was here earlier and I just figured out that it might be his. He was a doctor. I was just about to give it to him . . . give it back to him.

Colin: Well, thank you Lindsay. I'm glad you found it. Of course it's useless now, now that the needle is contaminated. I'll take it and dispose of it properly. We wouldn't want . . .

Nora grabs the needle out of Lindsay's hand.

Colin: Nora!

Nora: (pointing the needle towards Colin and Lindsay) Not until I figure out what is really going on here.

Lindsay: We just told you!

Colin: (approaching Nora) Nora, give me the syringe before you hurt yourself.

Nora: I'm not hurting myself. I have no intention of hurting myself. (walking towards Lindsay with the needle) I know how to handle a needle.

Lindsay: (backing away) STOP THAT! What the hell's the matter with you?!

Nora: I don't know . . . You'd know better than I would. (waving the needle at Lindsay) What is this? Is this the drug you gave me, huh? Is that what it is? Some mind erasing drug?

Colin slowly moves behind Nora.

Lindsay: I don't know what's in there? (pointing at Colin) Ask him, it's his!

Nora turns around and points the needle at Colin, but keeps an eye on Lindsay too.

Colin: Nora . . . it's for my allergies, okay. Now give me the syringe.

Nora: (waving the needle back and forth between Lindsay and Colin) Isn't it a little dangerous walking around with a syringe full of this stuff? Oh, contamination wise, I mean. Hmm?

Colin: (trying to calm Nora down) Look. Look. Listen to me. All you need to know is that whatever's in that needle is completely harmless. And it certainly wouldn't destroy anyone's memories.

Nora: (waving the needle as she moves towards Lindsay) Really? Well, there's only one way to find out, isn't there? (waving the needle in Lindsay's face) Well, if it's allergy medication, I bet you won't even have a reaction, will you? It's NOT like you're going to get your mind destroyed, is it?

Colin: Nora! Nora! Just stop it. This is dangerous.

Nora: Is it dangerous . . . why? Because the needle is contaminated? Okay, got any alcohol doctor?

Lindsay: Don't you touch me with that!

Nora: (threatening to stab Lindsay with the needle) Why are you so freaked out Lindsay?

Lindsay: Colin, get her away from me!

Colin grabs Nora's hand from behind and then Lindsay grabs her hand.

Colin: Nora!

Nora: (struggling) Stop it!

Colin: (taking the syringe away from Nora) This . . . this is nothing to play with.

Lindsay: What's wrong with you?! I thought you were suppose to be a good person.

Nora: A GOOD PERSON. A good person does BAD things sometimes when they're pushed too far. (looking back at Colin) Isn't that right Colin? I wouldn't turn my back if I were you! Either of you. Especially with each other!

Colin: (surprised by her comment) Yeah, I'll remember that Nora. Now you need to take it easy. You're getting all upset.

Nora: (angrily) Thank you for your professional evaluation.

Colin leaves.

Lindsay: You're insane!

Nora: (laughing) Wasn't that fun being on the other end of a syringe, huh? Did you like that? It's much worse when you have a broken pelvis and you can't move.

Lindsay: Is that what you remember Nora? Well, is it? Did you remember me coming after you with a syringe? Well, then your mind really is playing tricks on you. But you don't remember that, do you? Because if you did, you would be half way to the police by now.

Nora: (circling behind Lindsay) Oh I remembered something. And that syringe in your hand is what triggered my memory. It's coming back Lindsay. (a look of panic crosses Lindsay's face) My memory's coming back, little by little. It's just a matter of time.

Lindsay: (turning to face Nora) I'm not the one you should be worried about.

Nora: Oh?

Lindsay: No, Colin is! You think that that was allergy medication?

Nora: What do you suppose it was?

Lindsay: I honestly don't know. But I know this. Colin is a psychopath and he has it in for all of us. He threatened Lanie and me earlier. I was afraid for our ! . . . And if you believe this, I'm afraid for yours.

Nora: You're afraid for me?! You ARE afraid for me! Oh, that's rich. I'M TOUCHED!!

Lindsay: I know that I'm the last person that you would ever think about joining forces with, but I honestly think that Colin is capable of anything now.

Nora: What?! You want me to join forces with you?

Lindsay: And Lanie. Yeah, I think it's time we stop fighting each other and stick together.

Nora: Lanie and I haven't had a problem.

Lindsay: The only way to get rid of Colin for good is to give him the money. He wants money and when he gets it, he'll go away and leave us alone.

Nora: What makes you so sure?

Lindsay: He bled Lanie dry. You know, in their divorce, he took everything! He got everything! And now he's coming after me. I'd give him the money if I had it, but I don't. I don't have it. How about you? Hmmm? Are you willing to help us out with this cause?

Nora: (in disbelief) Your asking me for money to give to Colin?!

Lindsay: Do you want him out of your life or not?

Nora: (laughing) Your shear unmitigated gall never ceases to astonish me. You want me to fund Colin MacIver! The man that held me prisoner.

Lindsay: You have the most maddening way of taking everything I say . . .

Nora: Oh?

Lindsay: . . . and turning it into the opposite of what I mean.

Nora: OH, oh, I'm sorry. I'm wrong, you don't want me to buy Colin off?

Lindsay: He says he'll leave town when he gets the money he needs. I'm asking for all of us.

Nora: NO YOU'RE NOT! NO YOU'RE NOT! You are asking for yourself, for your own selfish reasons. What . . . do you think everybody in this town is stupid? That we're all idiots? You don't think we see your wheelings and dealings. MY GOD, you're so transparent, it's pathetic. Colin is blackmailing you. . . he's blackmailing you because you helped keep me prisoner. Because you gave me the drug that put my mind into deep storage, temporarily I'll have you know. So you want me to pay Colin off, to keep his mouth shut, to help bail you out. Am I getting warm?

Lindsay: You have been trashing my name to anybody who will listen for months. Where's your proof?

Nora: (smiling) Oh it'll turn up. It'll turn up . . . because you know why? You're scared and desperate. I can smell it on you. You can't keep all those balls in the air forever, you know. It defies gravity.

Lindsay: He's dangerous, Nora. He's dangerous. I have sat and listened to him talk to me about your relationship. He talks as if you are lovers who had a little spat and your just on the outs with each other. The man actually thinks he has a shot with you.

Nora: The same way you thought you had a shot with Bo?

Lindsay: (stunned by Nora's statement) Let's just . . . let's just put that behind us, okay? Let's just put everything between us in the past. I'm trying to avert a disaster here. I believe he will leave town if he gets the money that he wants. If you would just give it to him.

Nora: OVER MY DEAD BODY!

Lindsay: Well you see Nora, that's exactly what I'm afraid of.

Nora: (laughing) Thank you for your deep concern. Don't lose any sleep over me, okay?

Lindsay: Oh Nora, don't you see I'm trying to protect you?

Nora: Oh, you know what, that notion is positively creepy. It is. There are only two people in this world that I would rather kill than be protected by . . . and congratulations, you're one of them.

Lindsay: Whoa! . . . okay. (laughing) That's fine. Have it your way.

Nora: OH, I intend to. I intend to. (picking up her purse) Oh and in the spirit of full disclosure, I think you should know that before Colin leaves town, I'm going to prove the truth about you. (leaves)

Colin returns to his house in Cherryvale. He goes directly to the sideboard, checking the vial and syringe, then placing them in the drawer.

Lanie: (walking in from the kitchen) What's that, Colin?

Colin: (startled) Lanie, I didn't even see you there!

Lanie: I'm sorry. Did I startle you?

Colin: No, no . . . uh, just some stuff from my car. What . . .what are you doing here?

Lanie: (walking up to him) I came to give you what you want. (throws a bag at him) That's every cent I have. NOW GO . . . someplace far, far away.

Colin: (dropping the bag as if it were poison) What happened to us, Lanie? (Lanie stands there looking at him with a cold stare) Do you remember when we went to St. Barts?. . . Yeah, you remember cause that's where you learned how to wind surf. But you couldn't figure out how to get the board to turn around . . . and the wind and the tide kept pushing you out to sea. You wanted to come back to shore, but you couldn't. So I dove in after you, Lanie, and I saved you. I brought you back to shore . . . and you were so scared, your legs were so wobbly, you could barely stand up. So I picked you up in my arms, Lanie, and I carried you all the way back to the hotel room. And I got you to laugh. Do you remember? I started laughing so hard, I almost dropped you . . . but I didn't Lanie. I held on to you, until we collapsed on the bed . . . together, all tangled up, you and me. And then I kissed you and then we made love.

Lanie: (grabbing his jacket) You've turned into a heartless, money-grubbing monster. Don't go soft when you need that quality the most. There's nothing left for you here, Colin. So take the money and GO!

Colin: (grabs Lanie's face) Goodbye Lanie.

Lanie leaves.

Colin: (trying to hold back the tears) Goodbye.

Later, Colin is at the sideboard with several vials out and a syringe.

Colin: (withdrawing a serum from one of the vials) Separately, you don't pack much of a punch. (inserting the full syringe into another vial and injecting the serum into the vial) Mixed together . . . Oh, the lady just won't be able to resist. (picks up the full vial and stares at it)
