Nora answers the door and drops the magazine when she sees it's Colin. She tries to push the door closed, but Colin puts his arm and hand between the door and sill.

Colin: (talking to her through the gap in the door) NORA! NORA! Two minutes, okay. That's all I'm asking for. Just give me a chance to explain.

Nora: (pushing on the door closed) You can't explain!

Colin: Nora, I'm not going to hurt you.

Nora: I want you to leave right now. LEAVE!

Colin: Look, look, Nora! There are things that you want to hear, right? Things that only I can tell you. Two minutes, Nora, that's all I'm asking for. . . Come on, do you really want to risk not hearing something you so desperately want to know. . . Nora, if you want to hear it, you have to let me in. (looking at her through the glass window) You have to let me in. I'm harmless, I swear. Please!

Nora: (watching him through the window) You DON'T lay an hand on me, okay.

Colin: I won't. I promise.

Nora backs away from the door and runs to the desk and grabs the phone.

Nora: Just keep your distance please.

Colin: (coming in the door) Okay, okay, fine. I'm not here to cause any trouble Nora. (taking off his coat and setting it on the chair) Look, I just wanted to explain a few things to you, okay.

Nora: (clutching the phone and backing away from Colin) All I want to hear about is Lindsay, that's all I want to know, okay!

Colin: Okay, fine. But first I just want to say I know . . . I know you were a little freaked when you saw all the stuff that I've been collecting.

Nora: My God, Colin, can you blame me? It's one thing to have my picture, but a lock of my hair, a cup with my lipstick on it. . . I mean that's a little weird, isn't it?

Colin: Maybe . . . maybe.

Nora: NO MAYBES, NO MAYBES! You need help Colin.

Colin: I think you're probably right, Nora. Nora, when I lost Lanie, it hit me really hard and I guess I just needed something to hold onto. So I held onto you.

Nora: Okay, it's time to let go now Colin.

Colin: Yeah, I know that now. You see Nora, I'm not as far gone as you thought I was . . . I know that I have to face the end of my marriage, and I know that you can't help me do that.

Nora: No! I can't, and I won't!

Colin: I know. Nora (stepping towards Nora, she back away) Nora, I am sorry, I am so sorry that you didn't get a chance to know me when I wasn't going through such a rough time in my life.

Nora: Get to the point, Colin.

Colin: Okay. The point is that I realize that I've been a little obsessive lately, (Nora laughs in disbelief) and I know that I've frightened you. You're scared now, aren't you?

Nora: Just tell me about Lindsay, okay?

Colin: (taking another step towards Nora) Nora, please . . . ok, just don't be scared of me, alright?

Nora: (backing away) Colin, just don't come any closer, will . . .

Colin: (very agitated, raking his hands through his hair) I hate this. (trying to regain his composure) Okay, okay, okay, no . . .

Nora: (clutching the phone tighter) Okay, Colin, you know what . . .

Colin: (advancing towards Nora) no . . .

Nora: (moving around the chair) I think you need to leave!

Colin: (still walking towards her) Nora, please just listen to me!

Nora: (walking away from him) No, you really need to leave!

Colin: (following her) Nora! . . . Nora! I'm not going to hurt you, Nora!

Nora: I WANT YOU TO LEAVE MY HOUSE. NOW! (turning to face him) I WANT YOU TO LEAVE MY HOUSE COLIN!

Colin: (stopping in front of her) I WOULD NEVER HURT YOU, NORA! . . .

Nora: NO, COLIN!

Colin: . . . Just let me explain to you, Nora! PLEASE!

Lanie approaches Colin from behind, carrying a hooked garden tool in a threatening gesture towards Colin.

Lanie: (raising the tool higher) STOP IT, COLIN! You make one more step and I swear it will be your last!

Colin turns and sees Lanie with the tool.

Lanie: I mean it Colin. BACK OFF!

Colin: (nervous) And you wonder why I went a little crazy, huh?

Lanie: I believe Nora asked you to go, SO GO!

Colin: NO, NO LANIE! Nora and I were having a nice little chat until you barged in like some lunatic.

Lanie: I don't think she's finding it so nice.

Colin: Nora, would you please explain to my ex-wife that she can go. That she's making a fool of herself and that she's NOT wanted here.

Nora: (obviously scared) I want you to go, Colin.

Colin: (looking at Nora in disbelief) Me? Why Nora?

Nora: You make yourself out to be a poor misunderstood man, but I understand you . . . and now I want you to understand me! Leave my house please, and DON'T EVER come near me again.

Colin: You don't mean that Nora.

Nora: Yes I do.

Colin: No!

Nora: Yes I do. Please don't make me call the police and have them convince you.

Colin: Nora . . . you wouldn't do that.

Nora: Yes I would Colin! (stepping behind the couch) Please leave my house NOW!

Lanie: YOU HEARD HER!

Colin: (clasping his hands to the side of his head) YES, LANIE! I HEARD HER, OKAY! She was perfectly clear. Nora asked me to go, so I guess there's only one thing left for me to do.

Nora: (moves to stand behind Lanie) I am asking you to leave Colin, and if you don't I will call the police, and they will come here.

Colin: You . . . you think I'm planning to hurt you somehow?

Nora: I don't know Colin, are you?

Colin: (shaking his head) Of course not Nora. (trying to hold back the tears, he turns and picks up his coat)

Lanie: (moving towards him) What are you up to Colin?

Colin: (removing his gloves and putting them on) I've been asked to leave, so now I'm leaving. (turning to face Nora and Lanie) In fact, I'm going to leave town.

Nora: (moving beside Lanie) You said that once before.

Colin: (looking at Lanie) I lost you, and I lost my job. (looking at Nora) And the only other person that I really care about won't forgive me.

Nora: No, I can't.

Colin: So what's left for me to stay for? (waiting and hoping to an answer) Alright, so I guess all I need is a little money for the road.

Lanie: (threatening Colin with the tool) I'm sure you'll scrounge that up.

Colin: I'm sure. (looking at Nora) I guess this is good-bye Nora.

Nora: (wiping away a tear) Goodbye Colin.

Colin walks out the door, closing it behind him. A look of pain, despair and hopelessness crosses his face as he grasps his coat with his hands and wrings it.

Nora: Thank you Melanie . . . Melanie?

Lanie: (staring at the garden tool clutched in her hands) I swear I would have clobbered him. I was ready.

Nora: I know. You even had me scared. You still do. Melanie, give me this. Please give this to me. (taking the tool out of Lanie's hands) Okay, okay . . . Sshh.

Nora, taking the tool with her, walks into her office and closes and locks the back door.

Lanie: (following Nora, her hands trembling and her voice shaky) I came to warn you Nora. I was with Colin earlier and he kept going on and on about you, but in a paranoid and deranged way, and it terrified me. And then I came here and saw his car in your driveway. And I . . . I . . . I had to stop him. I couldn't think of anything else. He's turned into a monster and I feel like I'm responsible.

Nora: Your not responsible Lanie. Your not responsible.

Lanie: No more victims! Not me or anyone else! I am stopping him, Nora. No matter what, I am stopping him.

Nora: I think he's learned his lesson, if he's really leaving town.

Lanie: I hope so, but I don't trust him. There's always one more trick up Colin's sleeve.

Cherryvale Clinic - Medicine Storage Room

Colin enters the storage room in a doctor's lab coat and goes to one of the medicine cabinets. He opens the cabinet with a key and removes several vials.

Colin: A bit of this, a bunch of that. It all makes for the perfect cocktail for the perfect send off.

Placing the vials in his lab coat, he leaves.
