While alone in the house, Nora drew stick figures of all the people she knew to be involved in what was happening to her - Colin, Sam, Bo, Lanie and herself. She knew there was a missing piece. She suspected it was Lindsay but wanted Colin to confirm it. When he came into the bedroom, she shared her findings with him.

Nora: It's about time you got here. We need to talk.

Colin: {He picks up a wad of paper and playfully tosses it back on the bed} Don't you ever relax?

Nora: Not when I'm challenged.

Colin: Challenged? Challenged by what?

Nora: By a mystery. By a very big mystery. I'm trying to figure out why a smart, charming doctor like yourself would risk spending the rest of his pretty life behind bars for keeping a stranger captive.

Colin: You mean it's not just for the stimulating conversation?

Nora: Oh, you've got the wrong hostage there.

Colin: There's another one there like you?

Nora: Why don't we just cut through the bull. Let's just talk about the one chance you have of coming out of this whole.

Colin: I thought you just said you were the hostage?

Nora: Whose got you by the short hairs? Unless, of course, you want to kill me. Which I don't think you'll do because you've spent too much time making me better.

Colin: So let me guess. You're going to offer me a deal.

Nora: I've been figuring things out. There's some holes. You fill them in and I'll go easy on you.

Colin: Okay. I'll do my best. {He sits down on a chair beside the bed}

Nora: {She shows him her drawing)} Here's Bo. Sam. Lanie. Me - red hair, in bed. And you. Now, you're connected to Bo and Sam through Lanie. And I'm connected to all three of you by misfortune. How is Lanie connected to me? That's what I've got to figure out. There's just something missing in here, someone who pulls everything together. Someone I don't seem to know.

Colin: Oh, you know her alright.

Nora: I thought so.

Colin: It's Lindsay.

Nora: And how is Lindsay connected to Melanie?

Colin: Oh, come on. You're either putting me on or you're not as smart as you think you are.

Nora: I want to hear it from your own lips. How is Lindsay connected to Melanie?

Colin: You're telling me you don't notice a certain family resemblance?

Nora: In other words, Lindsay and Melanie are-

Colin: Sisters.

Nora: Sisters. Sisters. You lying SOB! You lying, dishonest, cheating-

Colin: Alright, well don't sugarcoat it, Scarlet. Tell me how you really feel. {He closes the bedroom door}

Nora: You pretend not to know anyone in my life, and your wife is sleeping with my ex-husband. Her sister is Lindsay and that makes Sam your own brother-in-law.

Colin: Okay, look. I didn't want you to get upset.

Nora: Like you care.

Colin: I haven't proven that to you? I wanted you resting and healing, not upset and agitated.

Nora: Oh, yeah, it's very relaxing to know that your doctor is a lying slimebag.

Colin: I'm sorry.

Nora: Don't you dare apologize to me. It's too late for that. It's time for answers.

Colin: I just told you about Lindsay.

Nora: And if you know her, you know perfectly well that she'd do anything to get what she wants.

Colin: Yeah, believe me. I know that all too well.

Nora: Then tell me the truth right now. Is Lindsay the reason for all of this? Colin? Is Lindsay the reason I'm here?

Colin: Alright, look, we should save this discussion for another time.

Nora: I'm not saving the discussion for any other time. We're having this discussion right now. You answer me right now! Is Lindsay behind this? Dear God. I know what this woman is capable of. She changed important test results that altered the course of my whole life because she felt I was responsible for all of her problems. Now I know that keeping someone dead is out there on the edge, but she's capable of it. She could do it. Because she thinks it would solve all of her problems. Even for a little bit. So I'm begging you, Colin. I'm begging you! Answer me. Colin, is Lindsay behind this?

Colin: We're not going to talk about this right now.

Nora: Answer me. Please.

Colin: {He leans above her, arms at each side of her} You want to know the real reason you are here?

Nora: Preferably without the preamble.

Colin: Well take it any way I care to give it.

Nora: Don't patronize me.

Colin: Don't judge me.

Nora: It's a little hard not to in my position.

Colin: I get that. {He moves away from her} Look, believe me. It wasn't supposed to be this way.

Nora: What way was it supposed to be? Was I supposed to enjoy this?

Colin: You're going to talk your way right out of the truth, Scarlet.

Nora: I'm sorry. I'll shut up and let you talk.

Colin: That'll be the day.

Nora: Please, Colin. Just tell me.

Colin: Look, I never intended for you to stay this long or go through this much agony. He sits on the edge of the bed, facing away from Nora I just needed to buy some time.

Nora: For who? For you? For someone else? For Lindsay? Tell me, Colin.

Downstairs, Sam comes to door and talks to Magda, the housekeeper. He gives her his business card and tells her that he wants to speak to Colin.

Colin: Truth isn't easy for me to admit.

Nora: That's because you're not capable of telling the truth. {He gets up and walks around} Well, you've lied to me about everything! About knowing Bo and about Sam and about Lindsay.

Colin: {At the side of the bed, he hovers above her} Look, I am trying to hold things together the best way that I know how so I can get you home. I have not lied about that! {He paces the floor again}

Nora: Why should I believe that?

Colin: Because you are getting better and better every day. Because you're not lying in the bed twisted and semiconscious loaded up on drugs. All I needed was an IV and restraints and you wouldn't have stood a chance.

Nora: You wouldn't have done that to me.

Colin: That's right. I wouldn't have. And I didn't.

Nora: {Crying} You really do want me to be okay?

Colin: Wow, she's finally getting it!

Nora: Why?

Colin: Because you are my patient. And you're also the most challenging woman I've ever met. You get knocked down and you come back swinging. You don't cry, you don't whine. You give me hell on a regular basis but somehow you manage to make me like it. I've never known anyone like you, Scarlet.

Nora: There are lots of women like me.

Colin: No. And I should know that. You're starting to grow on me, Scarlet.

Nora: Oh, God. Is that why you're keeping me?

Colin: No. That's why I'm letting you go.

Nora: When?

Colin: Well now that's the question, isn't it?

There is a knock on the bedroom door. Colin opens the door and Magda is there with tray of lunch for Nora. She shows him Sam's business card. Colin goes downstairs to talk to Sam. Nora sees the card on the tray and starts yelling for Sam just as Colin runs back upstairs.

Nora: Sam! Sam! It's me, Nora. Please! Sam!
{Colin walks in and shuts door.}

Colin: It's too late. Sam's gone.

Nora: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter that he's gone. It doesn't matter because he'll be back. I know Sam. He'll be back. He's going to find me.

Colin: I wanted to tell him you were here.

Nora: Really? What? Is your conscience starting to get to you?

Colin: It has been for a while.

Nora: Then why didn't you just tell him.

Colin: Because I'm as trapped by this situation as you are, Scarlet.

Nora: No, you are more trapped, believe me. Because when I go back to my life, I go back to a life and my children. And you? You're going to have your license to practice medicine ripped right out of your hands. And you're going to go to prison for a long, long time.<

Colin: Don't you think I know that? {He moves back toward the bed, leans above her} Give us a way out of this, Scarlet. {He holds her hand} Give me a chance to take you home.

Nora: {She holds her hand over his} Just do it, Colin.

Colin: I'm not losing anymore than I already have. {He backs away} Not even for you. I like my job. I like my house. I like my life. I like my freedom. You can help me keep all that.

Nora: No.

Colin: Come on, Scarlet. You're the lawyer. You've got to have some idea.

Nora: Why? Why in the world should I forgive you? You have kept me captive.

Colin: While you healed!

Nora: And worse yet you have left everyone that I love believing I died a horrible death, thinking that I'm lost to them forever. Why should I forgive you for that? Why should I help you?

Colin: Well, you better figure it out, because if you do... then I'll be able to take you home today.

Nora: You don't mean that.

Colin: Try me.

Nora: I could go home now?

Colin: Look, I want out of this situation just as badly as you do. Show me the way to do it, Scarlet, and you'll be tucking Matthew in tonight.

Nora: Plea-bargain. You give the DA's office something they want and sometimes they'll deal. They might even give you immunity.

Colin: Even after what I've done?

Nora: The DA's office has the sole discretion of deciding whether or not to prosecute. I could talk to them and maybe work something out. I'm the only person who could talk to them.

Colin: And you would do that?

Nora: For a ticket home? Sure.

Colin: {He starts to move back toward the bed again} That's what I thought. {He hovers above her} You'd say anything to get out of here, Scarlet, wouldn't you? Wouldn't you?

Nora: Yes, I would.

Colin: I should have known. {He leans down further} That's who you are. You get knocked down and you come back swinging. Only this time you're swinging at the wrong person.

Nora: {She puts her hand on his arm} Who is the right person, Colin? Come on, Colin. Who is the right person.<

Colin: {He looks at her hand on his arm and backs away} Never mind. There's no point in the truth anymore.

Nora: Colin? You want a piece of the truth? I'll give you a piece of the God's honest truth. No matter how many promises you make or how many compromises I make, I will never forget what you've done to me. Never.

He looks at her for a moment and then leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
