...Or Forever Hold Your Peace: Summary

During their youth, the characters of Gabe, Captain, Josh, Robin and Chief were inseparable friends. Flash forward to the future, when everyone is approaching the end of their 20s, and while the bonds of friendship have not been broken, life has put distance between them.

Gabe, Captain, Josh and Robin reunite to attend Chief's wedding. Looking forward to all being together again, the foursome arrive for the pre-wedding party.

Nothing is as they expect it to be. Through the course of the evening, not only are they ignored by Chief, but they become alarmingly aware of how much he has changed. Unlike the wild and reckless friend they fondly remember, he is calm, settled and very religious.

When the four friends confront Chief over being ignored, it is clear his fiancée has an obvious dislike for her future husband's oldest friends. Being ignored is not all that upsets them.

"Nine times out of then I don't even want to handcuff my friends to a chair."

All four realize how much Chief has changed, with a focus on his sudden stance as a devoutly religious man. After pondering this drastic change in Chief, the foursome arrives at the conclusion that he has been brainwashed. It is up to them to fix him and the obvious way to go about it? A totally harmless kidnapping.

After Gabe lures Chief to a motel and the gang proceeds to tie him up, he tries relentlessly to convince his friends that he has not been forced into becoming a religious man. Any changes that have taken place, he insists, were natural and he is happy in his life. The foursome refuses to believe their friend.

Over the course of several days, everyone tries to remind Chief of the way he used to be. They help him recall old times with reminders of their carefree youths. During this time, all five friends come to learn more about themselves and each other. Can they accept the changes that have occurred and hold onto the memories, all the while facing the future?
