Notable Quotables
"I know it's gonna be a good day when I can actually get the one cinnamon raisin bagel (at the OLTL studio)."
"The coolest thing about New York is that you can call and order Chinese food at 10 or 11 o'clock at night, and before you hang up the phone, there's a knock at your door. I just love that!"
"I played soccer and baseball. I got a college scholarship for the soccer, but in baseball I used to throw the ball into the stands. Not much of a career in that!"
"He (Colin) kind of walks a line. He has his own set of standards that he judges himself by... and I don't think that coincides with the rest of the world."
On my job as an accountant: "I got bored. I was sitting at my desk one time; I wrote a program that actually counted down the seconds until retirement. That's when I said, 'This is not for me.'"
"Without Hillary (B. Smith, Nora), I'm not here today. I had played Colin (in the screen test) as a very charming guy. And Hillary said, 'In the future, you're actually going to hold me hostage. They need to see some kind of edge.' I didn't know that -- and it changed my whole performance."
On the difficulty of memorizing lines: "Sometimes, I'll be standing there talking (during taping), and the next thing you know, I'll be doing a scene from two weeks ago."
"I was banging my head on the wall... I could not believe you'd have to learn 40 pages in one night."
On my experience as a nerd in high school: "I'm still pretty much a nerd. I love to play Risk. We get the guys together and sit around and play Risk. I don't know how much nerdier you can get than that. It's my idea of a great Saturday night. I was more of the jock type in high school, but I was kind of a nerdy jock. I was all into science and dinosaurs and biology."
On how the weather influences what I wear: "The weather doesn't influence my style from day to day but from season to season, obviously. I dress for comfort no matter what the weather. Whichever coast I'm on definitely influences what I wear. If I'm on the West Coast I'm more laid back. I have the whole mellow beach guy thing going on."
On what television show I would want to make a guest appearance: "Either South Park or The Simpsons, because I've always wanted to be a cartoon character. If I could, I'd play an evil doctor on The Simpsons - that's my goal in life. That's when I know I've made it."
On playing both Troy and Colin: "It's nice to play both dynamics. There's the realistic daytime drama thing with Troy and the out there, bizarre thing with Colin. Right now, Colin's a cartoon character, popping up in nightmares. And that makes it even more fun. There are no rules, because nightmares have no rules."
On playing crazy: "When you play crazy every day, it makes you a little crazy. I'm glad that I don't have to do it every day. I haven't kept anyone hostage or put up any shrines. Lately."
